Shortly after coming to live with us, Gus showed us exactly how stable he was. We were at an outdoor event in July (very hot & humid) and had been there for several hours. Lunch time was upon us and we walked Gus and a pup out of the main grounds area and toward the shade of a tree. While exiting, Gus went on full alert (stood forward, barking and moving toward a stranger on a bicycle). Gus spooked the guy and he fell off his bicycle. Two near by security officers approached and found that the man was in possession of an illegal substance. We left and while getting ready to pass back through the gate, a man, his wife and three children (two in a stroller and the other under 5) were coming out of the gate. The woman looked horrified as we approached and her child reached out toward Gus saying “goggie”. Gus immediately sat down so the child could love on him, gave the child a gentle kiss on the face and they continued through. We knew then exactly how much we appreciated Gus becoming a part of the MondouCu family. To go from an alert as he was and to recover immediately to love on a child is true to the temperament standard we hold so dearly. Oh, and shortly (first word of this story, was 6 days after being in our possession), and he was a 1 year old.
